ONE NILIT at plants worldwide ISRAEL “Maintaining our achievements and assimilating cost savings” Yiftah Bloch ,VP Operations and Site Manager at Nilit Israel: During 2018, the Migdal Ha’Emek site focused on a variety of specific processes at the various plants that required a “quantum leap” in performance improvement. For example, assimilating a full bobbin index at the Spinning and Texturizing plants, which reflects the ability to provide bobbins at a uniform weight according to the customer’s expectations, even for sensitive applications. Every full-length bobbin that the plant manufactures is sold at a higher price and increases the plant’s profitability. In the Texturizing Plant – we increased the production ratio of circular knitting (CK) in main yarn, and we achieved a reduction in dying irregularities and in the waste ratios. By instituting more orderly work and loading processes, new work methods and by building a more efficient preventive maintenance program, we achieved about a 30% increase in operations efficiency. In the Polymerization Plant – we stabilized the plant at its highest efficiency level, through the assimilation of tools to constantly monitor and control the production efficiency in QV (QlikView), in collaboration with the information systems staff, and while differentiating between the utilization and efficiency indicators. Our maintenance department switched from corrective maintenance to planned maintenance of autoclaves and other critical equipment, a switch that increased utilization and contributed to an increase in the plant’s efficiency. Thanks to these achievements, we broke the record for the plant’s daily and monthly outputs in recent months.Additionally, we improved the stability of the polymer production and drying processes, which is important to the quality of the dying plant’s performance. In POY – we began dialogues to improve performance in all of the plant’s departments, and we reached 70% preventive maintenance. Standardization of principal work procedures and processes in the Spin Pack Lab and in the operation of lines in the Spinning Plant led to a reduction in defects and quality problems and to improved performance. In order to adjust the costs to the competitive market, we significantly reduced the number of employees from manpower contractors. The majority of the daily operations is currently being carried out by Nilit employees, and we reduced the volume of overtime. We significantly reduced our energy expenses by fully operating the energy recovery systems and systematically repairing air and nitrogen leaks. This savings in energy costs reaches hundreds of thousands of dollars per annum. Our targets are transparent and are communicated in order to harness everyone to the improvement processes, and our employees are taking a significant part in this by offering suggestions to improve performance. Concurrently, we are investing heavily in improving site safety (see article in this edition). At the beginning of November, Maayan Ben Zeev of the transformation team, was delegated the responsibility for the One Nilit process in operations at Migdal Ha’Emek, and she reports toYiftach.
