Going Global ONE NILIT – smart streamlining of global processes Global Procurement Shirley Azar: “Streamlining costs and boosting Nilit’s competitive capacity” Shirley Azar , Global Purchasing Manager, joined Nilit in March 2018 and reports to Tal Oren ,VP Global Resources. Shirley :The main objective of the Purchasing Department is to boost the company’s competitive capacity through the achievement of cost savings, through mapping of the global needs and defining the right work processes.We are involved in the processes from the outset in order to enable analysis of the many alternatives to the extent possible. For the purpose of cutting costs at the global level, we analyzed all the purchasing categories – the volumes of consumption, the suppliers and the prices in all sites; we built an aggressive plan for reducing costs, while analyzing the market trends, the existing and potential vendors and defining our leverages per category. We maintain regular contact with all our sites and review, on a weekly basis, the activities and the analysis of the findings, and execute a uniform plan for cost reduction.We leverage the sites’ shared purchasing power by consolidating specifications, standardizing the procurement processes in various categories and, of course, by conducting global negotiations with suppliers. After a relatively short period of work, we can already see tremendous value in sharing information and looking at procurement as a whole for the global purpose of more informed decision-making.This value also receives expression in actual savings and in the uniform language that we have begun to create at all echelons of our global procurement.The cost- streamlining activities are managed in full congruence with the One Nilit methodology and include daily, weekly and monthly follow-ups, as well as ongoing information sharing. From our perspective, One Nilit = one procurement.The contribution of professional global procurement is measured along the full length of the value chain, both in improving the cost structure and in improving quality.This is an opportunity for me to thank the procurement staff in all the sites for their excellent cooperation and the tremendous efforts that they are devoting to the parallel handling of dozens of subjects and to the professionalization in each of them.
