Teva CFS Book English

Leading the Way natural gas, which is non-polluting and its costs are significantly lower - all the infrastructures were built and prepared at the site and are currently awaiting Ministry of Energy approval. In the future, natural gas is planned to supply energy to the steam boilers and to the RTO incinerator - saving hundreds of thousands of shekels per year. • The filtration systems were upgraded in all of the manufacturing rooms. The new systems collect the powder residues and thus prevent the risk of contamination. • In certain places on site, the condensate is collected from the air conditioning systems and the water is reused in the cooling towers. This translates to a savings in water and tens of thousands of shekels in the water bill. • Teva is currently investing $4.8 million in a new cooling system that will better support the air conditioning infrastructures at the site and will result in significant electricity savings (return on investment in electricity savings is expected within two years). • In the past two years, the site went from using regular lighting to using LED lighting - resulting in a savings of tens of thousands of shekels per year including maintenance costs. • In extensive areas of the site, time controlled lighting installed as well as presence detectors in rooms that automatically turn the lights and air conditioning off when no one is in the room. Quieting the noise • The machine engines were replaced with quieter engines • Acoustic walls were built above the plant roofs at an investment of $2 million Not all wastewater flows to the sea The wastewater institute was upgraded according to changes in the environmental standards. A computerized control system was added to control the acidity of the wastewater before it is released to the municipal system. Good things come in packages... that are recycled In recent years, a recycling policy was introduced at the site and there is now a separation of waste to electronics, nylon, plastic, cardboard, batteries, etc. Results were quick to follow: In 2015, the site recycled 40 tons of iron, 130 tons of plastic and 1200 tons of cardboard. Environmental awareness is gaining momentum every year and the Kfar Saba site is happy to rise to every challenge it faces pertaining to this important topic, because whenever the environment benefits, we all benefit. Acoustic walls to block noise Steam boilers The Kfar Saba site decided to turn the environmental licensing process from something intimidating to an opportunity to optimize the production processes, to implement green innovation and lead the way to change, like always. 27
