Getting it done together room for the product, which we called a “suite” and later additional suites were set up. The entire plant was on its feet those years and changed form several times. The Packaging Department, which was moved so many times, was eventually nicknamed ‘arizaza’ (Hebrew play on the words for packaging and moving)”. When the equipment arrived, a process began that lasted about 1-1.5 years during which the Production Department, together with the T&SA, R&D, and of course also the lab and QA, started production attempts accompanied by a large number of experimental batches. The supply chain was responsible for planning supply and logistics coordination with the American market. Everyone did their part and contributed knowledge and experience, and eventually a successful launch was underway. David Lustig, who was the Plant Manager at the time, orchestrated the entire process. The first sign of renewal The first launch using the Pellets technology was for a product called Lansoprazole, which was actually the first sign that helped the plant learn the technology. Lansoprazole is a drug that reduces the secretion of gastric acid and helps heal diseases and ulcers in the upper GI tract, like reflux. Its launch in December 2005 was a significant milestone since numerous and important launches for the plant and for Teva in general came after it (see details in the article: Miracle-Making Plant on this cover). Menny Meirom explains: “A plant that does so many launches naturally gets a lot of attention from the company. For the plant in Kfar Saba, which was built in the mid seventies, and in the early 2000s was seemingly outdated, every launch like this translates into budgets that enables renewal. This is in fact how, thanks to the launches, the plant renewed and in the first decade of the millennium, grew immensely and was by all accounts a leading plant”. “ Engineering prepared the first production room for the product, which we called a “suite” and later additional suites were set up. The entire plant was on its feet those years and changed form several times. The Packaging Department, which was moved so many times, was eventually nicknamed ‘arizaza’ (Hebrew play on the words for packaging and moving) ” [Menny Meirom] . 45
